Tony Rieck takes a well deserved win in a close regatta

With winds just a little bit stronger than forecast and out of the ESE, RD Tom Germer set up as good a course as he could. For most of the racing there were good windward beats which allowed for some good racing and lots of lead changes. At times, however, the wind direction meant there was some reach-reach sailing that put a premium on getting a great start. The racing for the top three was about as close as you can make it. At the half way point of the 12 heat regatta, just two points separated 1st from 3rd. Rieck was in the lead by just one point with Walter and Bremer hot on his heels.

Tom Phillips was also hanging close until he ran into Martin Gray and his rig went in the water. With no chase boat to rescue him, Tom waited out two more heats before his boat drifted to shore and he could make a repair. Grant Ward was sailing well with his new (used) suit of sails and Martin Gray had a few good heats along with a bullet in the last heat to close out the regatta on a high note. Eric Clee Dropped out early to spend time with his family on Father's Day.
