Punta Gorda "Holiday Season Regatta" Report
Hedderick wins 3rd regatta of the season, Rieck wins the Florida Championship

The Punta Gorda Regatta was the last stop on the 2011 Florida circuit and was held Dec 4th and 5th. Going into the regatta, the leaders for the Florida Championship were very close with only 4 points separating the top 5 skippers and the top two, Tony Reich and Baron Bremer, by only 1 point.

The weather was forecast to be ideal and it turned out 13 races were held under mostly sunny skies. Saturday the winds were light and variable and ever changing. On Sunday the racing was started with light winds that built during the morning making it necessary for most to switch from A rigs to B. Twenty Four skippers started the P/R regatta with twenty two completing the two day event. The hosting club Sun Coast Model Sailing Club #211 did an excellent job of running the regatta under the direction of R.D. Art Hawes
