April Club Series Report
Tony Rieck wins with an impressive 6 bullets

Very tricky conditions made for some exciting and frustrating racing. Tony Rieck seemed to be at home in the ever shifting conditions. He but his boat in the best place at the right time more than anyone else and capitalized on the shifts whenever possible. Was there an element of luck involved? Sure, but even the luckiest among us could never have made things work that well. So there certainly was a lot of skill in his performance. Congratulations Tony!

John Bottensek put in his usual consitent sailing with three bullerts of his own to take home second place. Joe Walter won two heats and had the most second place finishes with 5, but a number of 5th place finishes meant he could only manage 3rd place. Tom Germer took home a bullet as well and sailed well to take 4th place.

Tom Phillips was sailing well until he was dismasted by the commodore and had to sail the ballance of the regatta with his B-rig which simply could not keep up with the A-rigs in the lighter air.Grant Ward and Jason Hastings both have been away from the lake for some time and have missed out on some practice, but you really would not have known it as they both held their own to the rest of the fleet. The finishes were all close. Most of the races had less than a minute of separation between first and last place. A good sign that everyone is improving.

John Bottensek will be RD for the May regatta.
