August Club Series Report A shifty southerly wind made for a challenging course behind the dentist office. As most of the skippers were just getting done setting up their boats, RD Tom Germer decided to move the course around to the Southeast side of the lake in hopes of getting a good windward/leeward course. It worked pretty well, but things are always shifty around that building. Only five skippers would sail in this club series regatta, but the racing was very close with multiple lead changes between John B, Baron Bremer and Joe Walter. All three won 4 races and each threw out a 4th place finish. You could not ask for much tighter action than that. Tom Phillips had a couple of minor mechanical issues, but was otherwise right in among the leaders. He lead several races before getting caught out on a bad shift or getting stalled in one of vortexes that apear out of nowhere. We all found them at some point or another. Tom was just the unlucy one who found more than fis fair share of them. Grant Ward had his boat moving well and while he finshed at the back most of the races, he was never really far behind. He even managed to pull off a 2nd place finish just a boat length behind. It was a really nice day of sailing, but it would have been even better if more of our club members could have come. I hope to see more boats on the water for our September regatta. Thanks to Tom G for doing a great job as RD. John B will be RD next time.
