June Club Series Report John Bottensek got off to a great start with 3 bullets in the first 5 heats and a score of just 8. Skip and Joe Walter were on his heals with 12 and 13 points respectively after 5 heats. Skip turned up the heat in the second half of the day though and snatched the win away from John by just 2 points. Tony Rieck also put some pressure on in the second half with 2 bullets to tie Joe in overall points and used his throwout to move into 3rd place. Grant Ward showed some great improvement on the water. He really had his boat moving well and when he gains some more experience at the mark roundings, he will be a real force on the lake. Tom Phillips sailed well and was the only guy not in the top 3 to score a bullet. Tom Germer and John Garver each had some minor gear issues that gave them each a DNS. All in all the sailing was quite close all day. There were several ALMOST too close to call finishes and nobody finished more than a leg of the course behind the winner. This proves how well everyone is sailing and winning comes down to who makes the least amount of mistakes. Baron Bremer did an excelent job as RD. He set up a very challenging windward-leeward course, but it meant that the windward marks were pretty far out in the lake because of the wind direction. We called racing off after 11 heats as the wind was building quickly infront of a major thunderstorm. Tom Phillips will be RD next month.
