October Club Series Report
John B comes from behind to take the win

Tony Rieck began the day with four bullets and a 2nd place in the first five heats. Tony continued to hold the lead through 9 heats while John chipped away little by little. After 10 heat the two were tied at 23 points. The next closest skippers were Baron and Joe more than 10 points behind. Tony made one mistake at the start of the 11 heat which resulted in a tangle with Brenda Pardee. By the time they got free, John was 5 points ahead.

Jason Hastings took 2nd in his first race back from operation and sailed well for half the day until he needed to rest up. When Jason is fully recovered in a few weeks, he is going to be a tough competitor. Joe Walter and Baron Bremer were relatively consistant in 3rd and 4th place and finished just 2 points apart. Tom Phillips was also sailing well until the last race when his batteries died. Brenda Pardee drove in from Tallahassee to sail with us and brought a cooler full of beer Her regular boat was in dry dock, so Tom Germer, who was RD, loned her his boat. She put together several impressive heats and lead one heat right up until the last leg when the stars of the day edged her out at the finish. I guess they didn't get any beer after that.

Murray McQuaid made it back from Maine and sailed well while Grant Ward struggled to get his B-rig to perform this weekend. Unfortunately, Martin Gray broke before the first heat and was unable to make a repair at the lake shore. So he took over scorekeeping duties and enjoyed some of the beer.

The winds were heavy enough to make the B-rig the joice of the day. The wind direction forced the start line to be out aways into the lake whch added to the difficulty in getting good starts, but for the most part the course was fair. A big thanks to Tom Germer for serving as RD.
