Notice of Race

East Coast 12-Meter Class National Championship
Fleet Races — Match Races
November 2 – 5, 2005

Registered owners or captains of East Coast 12 Meter Class yachts who are members of American Model Yacht Association (or their appropriate national authority) are eligible and may participate in this National Championship Regatta. Eligible competitors may enter the regatta by completing and returning the official entry form together with payment for all fees to the address shown on the form.

The regatta is limited to frequency availability, as an exception to the entry form pages.

The regatta will be held at Walt Disney World, Orlando Florida. Racing will be on the "World on Hourglass Lake" in the "Pop Century" Resort.

This National Championship regatta will be conducted under this Notice of Race, the entry form, the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), Appendix E of the RRS, the prescriptions of US Sailing, the rules of AMYA and the EC12 class. In addition the Match racing shall be conducted using appendix C of the RRS. Specific rule changes or modifications will be identified in the respective Sailing Instructions.

This notice, Sailing Instructions, specific travel, meal and lodging information will be mailed to all registered competitors at the end of the registration period. This information will, in part, be posted at Race Central on the event website at http://www.floridaec12.com/nationals.html and revised as needed by the Race Committee. Otherwise, communications with registered competitors will be by Internet Email.

Registration and measurement of competitor’s hulls and sails will begin at 9:30 AM, November 2 at Race Central beside the lake.

Practice racing may be available, as permitted by the Race Committee and Disney property policies at noon on November 2. The regatta officially begins with match races on November 2. Fleet racing begins immediately after the skipper's meeting at 8:30 AM November 3.

Courses to be sailed will be announced to the competitors and displayed on a board located near the starting location.

Fleet racing will utilize the Equal Opportunity Racing System (EORS) for four (4) heats per race or as deemed necessary by the Race Director. The scoring will be in accordance with RRS Appendix A using a modified low point system to recognize the peculiarities of EORS. Specific details will be in the Sailing Instructions.

Match racing will utilize the elimination system detailed in the Sailing Instructions. Qualified shore based observers will be utilized in lieu of on the water umpires for match races.

The protest committees will consist of personnel who are not involved in the protest. Protests will heard as soon a possible after each heat is completed.

Suitable trophies and AMYA championship (ACCR) chevrons for both the fleet and match racing events will be awarded at the conclusion of the regatta.
